Transitional fashion – from summer to autumn & beyond...

Sunday 7 October 2018

Fashion can be seen as a disposable outlet, but to me it's a constant. When I buy a piece of clothing, I'm not just buying it – I'm investing in it. I don't want to buy something to wear once and then forget about – I want to buy it, love it, wear it, love it, and wear it another twenty times over. Within this post, I want to encourage you to wear your clothing throughout the seasons. Granted, a maxi dress probably won't be worn on a snowy evening, but why not dress down a pretty summer tunic in the autumn?

I adore my clothes. I'm so grateful to have built up such a collection over the years, and I honestly adore each and every garment hanging in my closet. I like to make the most out of my clothes, and this means wearing them throughout the seasons.

Take for instance, this stunning, chic, and super boho tunic. I got it in the spring, wore it throughout the summer, and guess what? It's perfect for autumn too, especially when teamed with a pair of ripped blue jeans, sandals, and cute handbag!

You can change up almost any summer piece, so that it can be worn in the autumn. Short shorts? Instead of wearing a strappy vest, why not team them with a super cosy chunky knit! Denim skirt? Whack on a pair of tights, wither natural, black, or a funky colour! Kimono? Wear with a dress, tights, and loafers for a super chic boho look! Sandals? Well, they can definitely be worn until the end of October!

Some people (those with a huge disposable income) might think "why should I re wear my clothes when I don't have to" but sometimes you can make and set new trends of your own by teaming old things with new. Be a trendsetter, and come up with an unlikely outfit.. you might just surprise yourself.

Although I am a huge follower of the trends, and I adore keeping up-to-date with the fresh fashion from the runway, I do adore re-wearing my clothes, and teaming them with different components. When you're in the fashion world, and plan on spending your life within the realm of the fashion industry, it can be tempting to buy into the sphere of disposable fashion, but I always want to stay true to myself – therefore I would much rather come up with ensembles of my own, with a slight influence from the catwalks.

When I buy a piece of clothing, I'm not just buying it – I'm investing in it. I don't want to buy something to wear once and then forget about – I want to buy it, love it, wear it, love it, and wear it another twenty times over.

To be fashionable, on trend, and stylish, doesn't mean you need to spend hundreds of pounds on clothes. You simply have to be savvy, clever, and have an eye for teaming things together (in a way that they compliment your figure and personality in perfect harmony).

Do you re-wear summer clothing in the fall, and fall clothing in the winter? How do you style up last seasons trends so they fit well with the current trends? Let me know below!

  2. I'm very much the same - I like to make sure I wear all of my clothes as much as I possibly can, and when I'm done with them I always make sure they get passed onto someone else to love too. Lovely post and pictures - it has inspired me to look through my wardrobe and pick out some old pieces! xx
