BLOGGING BOOSTS YOUR CV – SO DON'T AVOID BRAGGING ABOUT IT

[Dress kindly gifted to me by Jolie Moi]

I've never ever shied away from talking about my blog and I've never understood why on earth people would. Why wouldn't you want to brag (in a good way) about something amazing that you've worked hard on?

Even though blogging for many, like myself, is just a hobby – it's the most amazing tool that can aid you in getting your dream job.

When I first started blogging, I didn't really know what I was doing – I was 16, clueless and didn't really know what was going to happen in my life or future career. I knew that fashion and writing were the two directions I wanted to head in, but I didn't really think past that. I knew I wanted to use my blog to open doors, but at the same time, I didn't really know how.

After around a year of blogging, I put it on my CV – I didn't even have to think about it. I didn't feel shy, I didn't feel boastful, I didn't feel like I should steer clear of talking about my blog – I simply popped it on my CV and there it has remained.

My blog is probably my greatest achievement in my life. It's been a constant and it proves that I am an ideal candidate.

ADD YOUR BLOG TO YOUR CV BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT...

  1. You're committed. Yep it shows that you can hold something down (the longer the better)
  2. You can be consistent. By posting regularly it shows that you're consistent and good at keeping things regularly updated.
  3. You're good at running social media accounts. When you've got a blog, you've generally got accompanying social media accounts too. Having these accounts, running them, posting at correct times, growing your accounts organically and using your social media skills, shows your future employer that you can run and grow social media accounts.
  4. You've got a lot of ideas. Blogging means you have to constantly and consistently come up with fresh ideas. Ideas on articles and blog posts, ideas for photography and graphic design, ideas for hashtags and group chats, ideas for content and features – the list is endless.
  5. You're able to work independently. Blogging proves that you're able to work alone (and to a very high standard).
  6. You're motivated. By putting your blog on your CV it proves that you're a motivated person. You got up one day, started a blog and you've stuck at it consistently for x amount of years – that's impressive.
  7. You're a creative person. Blogging means creating, and creating means creative. The more you blog, the more you create, and this makes you creative! Even more so if you dabble in design, videography, photography or audio work.
  8. You understand PR, marketing and advertising. If you blog, chances are you know a fair amount about PR. You may have dealt with PR companies, approached PR companies or worked with/for PR companies. You also know how to market and advertise your blog.
  9. You're a pro at content creation. You can probably create anything from an multi-media article, a video for YouTube, a podcast, an audio recorded interview, a designed magazine, Pinterest graphics, coding (maybe a little).. pretty much anything!
  10. You know how to captivate an audience. You know your demographics, target market/audience and you know how to create content specifically for a target group of people. After all, you've done it for years!

I honestly cannot stress how important it is to add your blog onto your CV (obviously depending on your chosen career path). It shows so many amazing qualities about you, your work ethic, your professionalism and the way in which you present your self online (in a world of technology).

Steal Mollie's Style

I'm wearing the most gorgeous (gifted) dress from Jolie Moi – a fabulous clothing brand who sell the most beautiful vintage inspired dresses. This gorgeous dress is the Roll Collar Tea Dress in Black Polka. I find the black to have a navy blue tint, which gives this dress a real sense of professionalism (something that I adore). It's vintage inspired and extremely flattering! With a below-the-knee length, the cutest round rolled collar, and chic detailing on the waistline – this dress flatters any and every figure.

As a curvy girl, I am always on the hunt for flattering dresses and when they're comfortable too, it's a real winner in my eyes! This dress is so comfortable. Made of such an opulent, durable and versatile material, this dress is stretchy yet fitted – perfect for work, events or day-to-day wear!

Is your blog URL on your CV? Do you shout about it from the rooftops? Or are you more of a secretive kind of blogger? Let me know in the comments below!
