THE ART OF WINTER LAYERING WITH MONSOON

Monday 2 December 2019

[Outfit gifted to me by Monsoon]

I adore the art of layering clothes. Layers are vital in the winter, so within this post I'll be showing you how to style up the dreamiest of bohemian outfits imaginable..

When Monsoon reached out to me last week, I was so shocked, happy and emotional all at once. Monsoon have always been on my ultimate 'blogger collab goals' list – so when they asked me to put together a gorgeous winter outfit – how could I possibly refuse.

I had the most 'pinch me' blogger moment ever, when I was asked to head into my local Monsoon store and hand pick a full outfit. I was so nervous and awkward, but it was such a wonderful experience and a first time for both me and the wonderful staff.

I wanted to style up an outfit that heavily focused on the art of layering. Layering is so important in the winter – and when changing a few layers can take you from the office to the Christmas markets, to cocktails and to coffee... that's layering done correctly.

I used the Rosie Print Pussybow Midi Dress as a basis for the entire outfit. I wore a size 16. Monsoon's sizing is incredibly true-to-size and very flattering too. This gorgeous Pussybow Midi Dress really flatters my figure and I wish they did it in every colour and pattern imaginable. This dress is so versatile and looks so beautiful with a wide colour palette – it's one of those pieces that you'll have for years to come because it will go with so many things in your wardrobe – from grey coats to pink jackets, teal bags to orange scarves.

I also wore Monsoon's Olive Long Stretch Leather Boots in Navy and Cora Croc Shopper Bag in Navy as a part of the basis of the outfit too. These two pieces are STAPLES for your wardrobe throughout the winter months. The Stretch Leather Boots in Navy are extremely comfortable and will look great with most outfits – jeans, leggings, oversized chunky knits, dresses skirts – the possibilities are endless. The Croc Shopper Bag matches perfectly with the boots – the perfect bag for daily use whether that be dashing around, going for coffee, hitting the shops or heading into the office.

Then, to layer I wore the Cassidy Cable Knit Poncho, the Prue Paisley Jacquard Blanket Scarf and the Rita Wrap Collar Long Coat in Charcoal. These three pieces can be worn together or separately – three unlikely BFFs, I just cannot get enough of each of these pieces. The Cable Knit Poncho is a LIFE SAVER, it's so warm and cosy, looks chic and goes with literally anything. At first I was dubious as to whether I liked the contrasting light and dark but then I came to the conclusion that it gives off the most opulent vibe (and is very Burberry-esque circa AW14 especially when teamed with the blanket scarf). The Paisley Jacquard Blanket Scarf is HUGE and so warm. The print of this scarf is so boho and looks great when pattern-clashed with other garments such as the dress I'm wearing. The Wrap Collar Long Coat in Charcoal is the chic-est coat I own. Incredibly Meghan Markle-esque, this coat is Royal-worthy for sure. Perfect for layering or wearing alone with a dress. Containing wool, this coat is the perfect partner for the winter months.

This outfit is pure perfection. Every element is just divine and so suited for the winter months. I can't choose a favourite element because I truly adore it all – worn together or separately, everything looks flawless.
