After attending the Epsom Derby in June with my boyfriend, Chris, he asked me if I wanted to go with him to Ascot's King George Day. Having had such a wonderful time at the Derby, how could I say no?
I had already purchased a selection of occasion-appropriate dresses, so knew instantly what I wanted to wear. The King George day at Ascot had a more relaxed dress code, and because we weren't in a royal enclosure, it was more laid back than the Derby.
I opted for one of my striped New Look dresses - the one in black and cream - with my trusty black quilted Coach bag. I wore some black Coach sandals to match, and completed the look with a heavily-gemmed black headband. Headwear and millinery were encouraged on the day, and although I enjoyed wearing a fascinator, the headband just felt more 'me'.
I also wore a silver Butler and Wilson heart-shaped pendant necklace, and my favourite earrings that are replicas of what the later Queen Elizabeth II used to wear - small gems with a small pearl at the bottom.

And attached to my bag was my new favourite bag charm by Damson Madder. I had seen it on their website a couple of months ago and wouldn't stop banging on about it. My mum then bought it for me for my birthday (which is in September) but caved and gave it to me the night before. I feel it really brought the outfit together and teamed amazingly with my signature red lips and nails.
Meanwhile, my handsome boyfriend Chris wore a sleek black suit comprising of a blazer and trousers, with a crisp white shirt and pink tie, complete with a flat cap and some smart black shoes. Looking as dapper as ever, Chris looked so handsome in the flat cap, which was a stark difference to his top hat and tails look for the Derby the previous month.

Apart from me feeling sick at Ascot (I caught a nasty bug that left me almost throwing up in public... yuck), we had a lovely day. And though we had no big winners, it didn't matter as we had such a wonderful time spending the day together, looking incredible by one another's side, and making memories that we will treasure forever.
When we go to events like this, it's always awkward when we want our photo taken together, but we find that by hovering in one area, where people can be seen taking photos of each other, it doesn't usually take long for a couple to ask "if you take our picture, we can take yours?". This is what happened on our Ascot outing - and it's these photos, taken by other people so we are both posing by each other's sides, that really mean the world.

The overall day was fantastic and I would definitely want to go to Ascot again for a race day - maybe even Royal Ascot next year.. who knows! Getting to make these special memories with Chris is really important to me, and I love how going to the races combines our passions - his passion for horse racing and my passion for fashion. Not only this, but we love the way in which racing is steeped in English tradition.
It really is a special day out, and even when it happens to rain (which happened both at the Derby and Ascot), it doesn't matter because my amazing boyfriend is by my side and we're making memories.
