Growing and glowing... the start of a new chapter

Wednesday 26 May 2021

It's been a long, long while since I sat at my laptop to write a piece for this little old space. I never imagined I'd neglect my blog for two months – but fear not, because I am back!

My blog has been a major focal point in my life since 2013, and I don't ever want to give it up, but taking a break for two months was needed. I've been working hard, growing, glowing and completing a bloody undergraduate degree! Yes, me – the girl who had the lowest attendance in high school and only ever obtained an E in Maths. I can't quite believe I've completed my undergraduate degree, accepted a place on a Master's, and begun freelancing in journalism? It's crazy, it's wild, it's amazing, and I can't quite believe it all.

My blog has always been at the back of my mind with me thinking about it often. I've often found myself wondering "how does my blog fit in with my life now?" and honestly, I still don't have an answer to that question. All I know is, my blog is a part of me and I can't just leave it dormant and empty.

I've toyed with changing the name of my blog, but I'm incredibly reluctant to do so. This blog has been with me since I was 16 – I'm 24 this year. I can't just throw away the name, it's a part of my online identity, it's my own space and if it ain't broke... it don't need bloody fixing! So many people change the name of their blog after a while, but I don't think I could bring myself to do it. As much as I love a fresh start and a new beginning – The Perks of Mollie Quirk is something I believe should remain.

I have so many new ideas for blog posts and features and I am so overjoyed to get back into blogging again. I don't want to enforce a schedule as such, but I do want to be consistent. I'm hoping to post a new blog post once per week, and I'll be aiming for Friday. This gives you all the opportunity to enjoy a brand new post over the weekend.

Anyway, I won't ramble on. A new post will be going live this Friday... gosh, I really am excited to get back into blogging! Thank you for sticking with me since 2013 – here's to this new chapter as an-almost-graduate!
