[This post contains a gifted bag and dress from Debenhams]

Fast fashion is something that I'm not keen on, I much prefer having investment pieces hanging in my closet. When buying any item of clothing I make sure that I love it... like really love it. And if I'm ever gifted clothing by a brand I will always choose something that I would personally buy. I don't see the point in buying or receiving clothes that you don't like? It's not good for you or for the environment.

During the summer the weather is generally warm and we can't be bothered to style up intricate outfits. This is why I love to pick up a few investment pieces for these kind of lazy summer days.

For summer 2019 I've got three investment pieces that I highly recommend to any fashionista...

Maybe more than one would be ideal, but either way – a versatile smock dress is a must-have! You know on those muggy mornings when you just don't know what to chuck on? Well, this is when you can turn to a super pretty, very versatile and incredibly chic dress. The one I'm wearing the Nine by Savannah Miller Red Floral Mini Dress* (was £49, now £24.50). As soon as I saw it I KNEW I needed it.. it's just so me! The bright pop of red with an accompanying black floral print and edging plus lilac accents – this dress combines my love of smock dresses with my love of red and my love of florals – it's perfect for me to chuck on multiple times this summer.

I had been after a straw-style bag for quite a while and then I stumbled across this stunner of a bag. Another Debenham's beauty, this bag is the RJR Multicoloured Straw Finsbury Park Grab bag by John Rocha* (was £39, now £19.50). With hoop handles and a stunning colour palette, this bag literally goes with everything (although be careful when wearing lighter colours). So chic and perfect for the warmer months (and even autumn too), this rustic bag has a chic twist which I am loving. It looks especially beautiful when teamed with a bright outfit.

I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks earlier this year and now I'm hooked. I picked up a pair of Red Arizonas (the ones I'm wearing in the photos) for just £18 in the Debenham's sale in January. And I just purchased my second pair from Schuh (Black Arizonas for £60). I feel that a pair of Birkenstocks can just complete an outfit by giving it the ultimate summery vibe. Not only do they look amazing, but they are so comfortable too!

What do you think of this outfit? Is it something you'd rock this summer?
