Festival Beauty Essentials Guide

Saturday 17 June 2017

Yay! It's finally festival season, which is the time of year that music, fashion and beauty lovers rejoice to camp out in tents and get covered in mud.. but it doesn't have to be this way. In this post I shall be talking you through my ultimate festival must-haves! From SPF to coloured hairspray and iridescent highlighter to travel-size perfume - this guide will let you know the must-have festival essentials that we ALL need to have in our rucksacks...

Coloured Mascara // L'Oréal Miss Baby Roll

Poppin' eyes are a must for summer, especially if you're attending a festival! What better way to make a statement than to have gorgeous bright eyes that scream that summer vibe like nothing else? L'Oréal's fairly new range of mascaras are so beautiful and incredibly sassy too. I've loved L'Oréal's formulation of mascara for the longest time and now that the same formulation comes in cute pastel colours, how can anyone refuse this winning combo!? In Sweet Lilac, Indigo Gum and Bright Teal - these beautifully funky NEW Miss Baby Roll mascaras brighten up ANY makeup look and add a little bit of something different!!

Sun Defence  // Elizabeth Arden & LUSH

During summer, whether you're at a festival, at the beach or just chilling in the park - staying protected from the sun and it's harmful rays is a must and I honestly can't stress how important it is to use SPF products to ensure your skin is protected! These sun protection products are beyond perfect for the summer sun, especially if you're not really into traditional methods of sun protection!

Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream range is one of my most favourite skincare ranges ever - I adore the scent, I adore the formulation and I adore how it makes my skin look and feel. So, as you can imagine, when I discovered their Eight Hour Cream Targeted Sun Defence SPF 50 Stick, I was overjoyed! In just a simple swipe across your lips, nose, sun spots or areas prone to burning, you're protected from the sun and your skin is getting moisturised and comforted too!

Lush

Lush also have an incredible range of products for sun protection. From SPF powder and to a solid SPF bar that can be used in the bath - everything they have in their summer collection is amazing and so innovative - perfect for summer holidays, festivals or trips to the beach! Their powdered sunscreen 'Powdered Sunshine' is a gorgeous loose powder which protects your skin from the sun by including an SPF 15 - amazing right!? Not only does it protect your skin from the sun, but it also gives your skin a healthy glow. I love using this powder on my legs, arms and as a finishing powder to my makeup also. I really love this powder as it's versatile and can be used in many ways - my favourite way being as a loose powder to set my foundation into place! The Sunblock Sunscreen is an SPF 30 - which is perfect for those super high UV days. 'The Sunblock' Sunscreen works in the bath or shower. You simply split the block into 3 chunks and then you use one chunk for your entire body, almost as a bar of soap - this gives your skin high UV protection the form of SPF 30!!

Fragrance // Fantasy in Bloom & Mary Kay

Fantasy in Bloom by Britney Spears

Ever since I was around 12, I have loved Britney Spears' fragrances, especially her Fantasy range! I can remember purchasing my first perfume of hers, the original Fantasy and loving it to pieces (I still do if truth be told). I also remember getting Midnight Fantasy when I was a couple of years older and loving it just as much as the original fragrance and although I still love Britney's first two Fantasy fragrances, I think that her new release, Fantasy in Bloom, kinda tops them all. With top notes of luscious Berries, juicy Mandarin and a whole load of Cherry Blossom; mid notes of Osmanthus, Jasmine and Tuberose; and base notes of Sandalwood, Amber and Vanilla. This fragrance is fresh, sensual, vibrant and radiant and it screams 'summer' like no other fragrance I have encountered, which is why I selected this fragrance for my Festival Essential guide! I have the super cute 30ml bottle, but this fragrance is available in 50ml or 100ml also. Available from Superdrug, Boots and many other stores nationwide.

Eau So Cute by Mary Kay

Eau So Cute by Mary Kay is the most gorgeous and super cute perfume I have ever seen. With the most unique fragrance I have ever smelt, the scent opens with a floral vibe and finishes with a creamy and delicious close. With top notes of: juicy pear, sweet almond blossom, Italian bergamot and neroli. Mid notes of: freesia, pink peony, daisy and cyclamen. And base notes of: marshmallow musk, cedar wood and sandalwood. This fragrance looks cute on any girly girl's dressing table or thrown into any girl's handbag or rucksack! The perfect size for travelling and the perfect summery scent for Summer 2017 - Eau So Cute by Mary Kay makes the perfect perfume to take along with you while you travel, attend festivals or just head to your local beach!

Lip & Skin care // Nuxe, L'Oréal & LUSH

Just because you're at a festival, camping out in the mud and slushing through puddles doesn't mean you need to compromise on skincare. Keep your lips hydrated with NUXE's best-selling lip balm, keep your face cool and toned with LUSH's incredibly fresh spray toner and take your makeup off with ease and your skin soft, silky and smooth with L'Oréal's new Fine Flowers range.

NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm in 'ROCK'

NUXE is a brand I absolutely adore and can't get enough of just recently. Innovative products that WORK and never fail to give me glowing skin that is super silky and incredibly smooth! NUXE's Rêve de Miel Lip Balm is a cult favourite of mine - it smooths my lips in an instant and provides soothing comfort that ensures my lips feel silky smooth all day long. The formulation of this balm is thick and robust - this instantly tells me that it's an opulent product that will deliver and I wasn't wrong - it works, it delivers and it makes my lips feel amazing. A must have for anybody - this wonder lip balm works wonders and is a staple piece in anybody's rucksack this festival season!

LUSH Breath of Fresh Air Skin Toner

Skin toners are brilliant for keeping our skin feeling fresh and hydrated and nothing makes them more irresistible than them coming in a convenient spray bottle. Whether you're feeling hot or in need of a quick pick-me-up, the Breath Of Fresh Air Toner by LUSH is a really brilliant toner keeps your skin cool and looking refreshed!

L'Oréal Fine Flowers Cleansing Wipes

L'Oréal's new Fine Flowers range is a godsend for me and I have really found it to work wonders on my skin. L'Oréal is one of the only drugstore brands that I trust for skincare and this collection is truly amazing. Their new Fine Flowers Cleansing Wipes for normal to combination skin are perfect for when you're on-the-go - they remove makeup, cleanse the skin and tone the skin, which means in turn they are ensuring your skin is smooth, silky and CLEAR! They're easy to carry, easy to use and it saves you from lugging an extra 3/4 bottles of skincare while camping out at a festival.

Coloured Hairspray // Colorsmash

Coloured hair is MASSIVE these days and but it isn't always easy to achieve perfectly coloured hair, especially if you're a brunette or aren't looking for a permeant fix, but Colorsmash's incredible coloured hairsprays are something of a godsend, especially if you're a brunette like me. I have the Indigo Colorsmash Hairspray and it looks absolutely beautiful on my dark brunette hair! It isn't too brash, nor too subtle - it's a beautiful Indigo hue (which looks amazing with the L'Oréal Miss Baby Roll mascara in Indigo). The hairspray looks gorgeous sprayed lightly all over your hair or just on the ends or just on the crown of your head. The hairspray stays there until washed out and once dry, won't transfer onto your clothes - amazing, isn't it!? Colorsmash Hairspray is available from izbeauty.co.uk and retails at just £16.95 for 130ml.

Hair Accessories // Scunci

It's rare that you find hair accessories that don't snag and cause our hair to become damaged, but Scunci is that rare gem that all girls need to discover. Scunci hair accessories are amazing - I have been using their products for a good few years and just can't get enough of the high quality and versatility of everything they produce. From no-slip hair grips to hair elastics with no metal, which in turn means our hair remains in good condition with no added damage - amazing, right!? The hair accessories I have from Scunci are their: No-slip grip bobby pins, Effortless Beauty no damage, no metal hair elastics, No-slip grip clear polybands and No-slip grip Jaw Clips. This wide range of gorgeous hair accessories are cost-effective, affordable, amazing quality and so perfect for summer and of course the festival season. Their Chubby Stick range is ever-growing and comprises of some of the most amazing and innovative makeup. I have two of their Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms in the shades Two Ton Tomato, the most gorgeous sheer poppin' red (my absolute favourite) and Whoppin' Watermelon, a beautiful soft bubblegum pink; I have one of their Chubby Stick Baby Tints in the shade Flowering Freesia, the most gorgeous soft lilac shade; and I have one of their Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for eyes in the shade Grandest Gold, a beautifully light gold with an iridescent sheen - perfect for using as an eyeshadow or even as a highlighter!

Iridescent Makeup // Sleek Distorted Dreams

Sleek MakeUP's Distorted Dreams collection is the perfect range for festival season! Look glam and get glazed with this gorgeous new collection. Festival season means you either get glittered or go home, so ditch the boring skin toned highlighter and invest in this nifty palette that gives you the ability to glow in all colours of the rainbow. Have glowing cheeks with blue flecks, green flecks, pink flecks or gold flecks - the possibilities are endless! Check out my full review (WITH SWATCHES) of this amazing collection here.

Sunglasses // Sunglasses Shop

The ultimate accessory HAS to be a classic pair of sunglasses, does it not!? Sunglasses complete every outfit, especially during the summer months! My favourite ever sunglasses are from Sunglasses Shop and they're the Ralph by Ralph Lauren 5207 Sunglasses. They're super chic, with a cute vintage feel and they literally go with every outfit - I love them to bits. If these frames aren't quite your style, check out what else Sunglasses Shop has to offer - they have a whole host of AMAZING sunnies and I for one want them ALL!!

Rucksack // Grafea

Rucksacks are a must for festivals! I don't think you could ever go to a festival and not see a rucksack - every single person at any festival is guaranteed to have a rucksack. Why not pack in style and use a blogger-favourite Grafea rucksack? These rucksacks are truly beautiful. Beautifully handcrafted out of gorgeous pieces of leather, Grafea rucksacks are versatile, compliment any outfit, hold a whole load of stuff and look super cute at the same time! I love my trusty Grafea and can't wait to add a few more to my collection!

Hands // Merci Handy & Palmer's

Keeping our hands clean and soft are things that don't often cross our minds when packing for a festival or summer holiday, but don't worry - I have you covered!

Merci Handy Hand Gels

When you're camping out at a festival, you don't have the luxury of washing your hands as often as you would when you're at home, college, university or work. Cleanliness is important and it's important that we ensure we stay hygienic throughout any adventure we may be undertaking this summer. Merci Handy's hand gels are super fun, cute and nourishing for your hands too. The three gels I have are from their new Love & Hand Cleansing Gel range - perfect for the festival season! I have the scents: Flower Power, New Wave and Oh my Lemon - all three scents are incredibly refreshing, beautifully light and super moisturising too. With tiny little bubbles of emollient, these hand gels break boundaries by combining anti-bacterial properties with cleansing and moisturising properties. Merci Handy gels are available from Topshop, Selfridges, Fenwick or directly from mercihandy.com

Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Hand Cream

Palmer's is a brand that I am sure the majority of you will be familiar with. For years I have been using their amazing Cocoa Butter range - it's gorgeous and I still love it to this day - so when I saw their new Coconut Oil Formula range and then when I smelt it, it really was love at first sight! Palmer's new range comprises of a whole host of amazing skincare products from creams to lotions and oils to lip balms (don't worry, a full review will be coming your way shortly). This incredible hand cream really is amazing and I cannot get enough of its beautiful tropical scent. With a beautiful thick formula that sinks in fast, creates a barrier to protect your hands and helps your hands to stay soft and hydrated for up to 24 hours, this super nourishing hand cream is a must-have for any beauty lover, especially those away on summer holidays and off to festivals! This range is available from Boots, Superdrug, Sainsbury's, Feel Unique and Amazon.

Haircare // Lee Stafford, Tangle Angel & LUSH

You shouldn't have to comprise on haircare while at festivals and thanks to me, you won't have to. From heat protection to dry shampoo and solid shampoo - your hair can still look, feel and smell fresh, yes, even when camping out in muddy fields...

Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Range

The Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo range is probably one of my favourite ever haircare ranges - I mean, why wouldn't you want to smell of fresh coconuts!? The CoCo LoCo Dry Shampoo and Heat Protection Mist are both so perfect for festival goers. The Dry Shampoo is perfect for when you can't be bothered to wash you hair/don't have the facilities to and the Heat Protection Mist is perfect for if you're going to be beneath the sun for long periods of time or if you're taking your portable/battery/gas straighteners or curling tongs with you. The Heat Protection mist makes my hair smell absolutely amazing - just like fresh coconuts! It also makes it feel super soft, floaty and look incredibly silky too! I absolutely adore this mist and never fail to use it after every single wash before blow-drying and before every sunbathing session on the beach too - it protects my hair from any kind of heat and prevents my hair from getting split ends.. it's a true lifesaver!!!

Tangle Angel Cherub

My Tangle Angel Cherub is the cutest, most gorgeous little hairbrush EVER! I adore my Tangle Angel to pieces. I have a couple of these brushes because they're just so so so good - no brush compares to these incredible brushes. The Tangle Angel  Cherub is the perfect size for travelling and for taking along to festivals - it's small, compact and gets out any nasty knots in an instant. I can't recommend them enough!!

LUSH Seanik Solid Shampoo

LUSH's Solid Shampoos are my absolute favourite things! The Seanik Solid Shampoo Bar is packed full of seaweed, sea salt and lemon. It gives the most uplifting vibe ever and leaves my hair feeling super silky with the best shiny sheen and amazing volume too! Perfect for taking to festivals or on holiday - this nifty little bar contains up to 80 washes, how frickin' amazing!!!!!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this Festival Beauty Essentials Guide and I really hope that it has helped you decide what you need in your rucksack this festival season! Whether you're heading to a music festival, going camping or glamping, travelling abroad or just heading to your local beach or park - these essentials would be perfect for any of the above mentioned occasions!
