I Loved It...So I Bought It In Three Colours

Sunday, 25 May 2025

I love clothes. My mum even told me off last week for buying too many, and I guess she's got a point. But that said, if I like something, feel confident in something and know for a fact I'll get my wear out of it, of course I'm going to buy it.

For example, there's a dress I purchased on a whim from New Look a couple of months ago, and I loved it so much that I bought it in an additional two colours. I first bought the cream and black, then I purchased the cream and green, and then the red and cream.

Feeling confident in a dress in the summer is the most important thing in my eyes. There's nothing more empowering than wearing an outfit you feel entirely comfortable in, that looks like it fits you properly and that feels easy to wear.

Summer dresses, and summer outfits in general, are some of my favourite things to wear because of how effortless it can be when done right. For example, if you've got a dress that fits like a glove and makes you feel confident, you only have to add sandals, a bag and some sunglasses and you're ready to take on the day.

Looking polished and put together is incredibly important to me, especially as a curvy girl, which is why finding a good dress is a blessing – hence why I bought it in three colours when I stumbled across the perfect one for me.

The cream and black colourway is the most classic of the three, in my opinion, and is ideal for an elevated look. I paired it with my favourite cream Coach sandals, my Coach bucket bag and my Coach sunglasses in black. I wore this for a day in the city and lunch with my mum, and it was oh-so perfect for the outing. I even got stopped and told how "beautiful" my dress was, which was a huge confidence boost.

Meanwhile, the red and cream colourway is a tad more fun and summery. With bright red stripes and the classic puffy sleeves, the red option was so much fun to wear and style. I opted for tan accessories and some brown sunglasses. I do feel that my skin tone might be too pale at the moment for the red frock, but I'll no doubt tan a little more now summer is almost here. The red option was ideal for attending Chelsea in Bloom in the city, and perfect for wandering around before stopping for coffee.

The green dress felt incredibly easy to wear thanks to the bright colourway that accompanies nature perfectly. I wore this for a trip on the Uber Boat up and down the River Thames on a slightly overcast day, and I feel it was an ideal outfit. I wore the frock with the same Coach bucket bag and Coach sunglasses as I did with the black and cream dress, but instead opted for some black sandals from River Island.

Each of the dresses are so comfortable and so easy to wear and style. I loved wearing each dress and cannot wait to wear them again over the summer months for fun events, nights out and day dates with my boyfriend. I feel the style is dressy enough to wear to an event, but casual enough for a more lowkey day out.

Although I saw many complaints online about the back of the dress and how it shows bra straps slightly, this does not bother me, and with a safety pin or by tucking the dress underneath your strap in a sneaky way – it's no issue at all.

Overall, I love this style dress by New Look and highly recommend each colourway. But which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!
